Starting the good-byes

There are just too many things I own on the Stampin'Up! retired list.  So I'm focusing today on one of my favorite papers.  Yes, you heard me right!  With all the stamps going, I'm going to miss the papers a LOT!  So here goes - today's designer paper that is highlighted is the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper.  What a mouthful to get that all out.   I'm so proud of myself since I just have scraps of this paper left.  That means I really used it up.  Considering I'm a paper hoarder big-time, this is a minor miracle!

Isn't this DSP just the prettiest?  The colors are bright, but not too bright for my pastel tastes.  The flowers just look happy to me, so I've made many birthday and thinking of you types of cards from this designer paper.   It's also worked well with many get well cards that have been made and sent in the past year.

For this card, I used two different prints that play very nicely together.   I started with a Very Vanilla card base of 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" that was folded in half.  The soft green print DSP was cut at 5 1/4" x 4" and attached with adhesive.

The next layer was cut from Terracotta Tile cardstock which is also retiring.  Boo hoo.  I really love that color!  It was cut at 4 1/2" x 3 1/2".

Layered onto that is a section of floral print DSP that was 4" x 3 1/4" cut into thirds and spread apart.  I like the look of the 3 panels of print paper across the front as the focal point.  It just gives you a different look for a change of pace.

After attaching the designer paper strips to the Terracotta Tile cardstock, I wrapped a length of Mossy Meadow 3/16" Braided Linen Trim and attached it to the backside.  I made a small bow from the trim and attached it with Mini Glue Dots.  Then the whole piece was attached to the card front using Dimensionals to give it a little lift.

Then it was time to decide on the wording for this card.  I found just what I was looking for in the Many Mates stamp set.  They have just the right size sentiments and cool fonts too.  That makes it a go-to set.  At least for now anyway.  It's being retired too!  Oh boo hoo all over again!
To finish off the card, I needed something special.  I check rhinestones, Sequins, etc. but nothing gave it the more rustic look I wanted.  Then I remembered the darling little Ladybug Trinkets.  Oh yes, I'd found exactly what I was looking for.  Don't you think it works well there?  I have so few left that I'm saving them for sending on cards to my special friends.  Can't believe how easy they are to attach with just one Glue Dot.  That's it!
Ok, I realize there are so many retiring items used on this card that I'm listing them out for you in case you're interested in picking any of these up before they're all gone.

And don't forget to leave me a comment or two (or more) this month.  Anyone that leaves me a comment this month will be entered into a drawing to win the Punch Party set from moi.  I liked it so much I got two!  So now it's time to share with one of you lucky ladies.  So give me some feedback in your comment and you could be the lucky lady this month!

That's it for today.  It's been a long one with unpacking more stuff (why do I have so much stuff?) and trying to find a place to hide it for another 10 years or so.  ;)    Anyway, I appreciate you all and miss y'all  like crazy.   Just practicing on the y'alls!!  Keep finding time to stamp and create.  It tends to fill a creative void in my life, so maybe you feel the same.

God bless,
Sharon

  1. I like using three panels, too. This paper is perfect for doing that.
