Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape

Hello and happy Sunday to you.  Hope you're doing well and staying cool in this heat wave. Whew, I don't know about where you are, but we've been dealing with some hot, hot weather.  It was over 100 degrees last week.  Of course, being one of those northerners, I was struggling to deal with the heat.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's going anywhere soon so I better get used to it and fast!  Is it because of the heat that my creativity has gone right out the window?  Seems like lately creating anything has been a real struggle.  But I've got a beautifully simple card today that I think is really elegant.  I just received the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape along with the coordinating stamps and dies.   Who could resist playing with it and die cutting piles of flowers?  Not me!  So, let's see what I made with just a few of these flowers made from the Washi Tape.

Isn't this really a cool and lovely card?  And it truly comes together so quickly.  Just the cool, calm card to make on one of these blistering hot days.  Let me tell you all about it.

The first thing I did was to get out the Washi Tape I wanted to use.  To die-cut the individual pieces in the Washi Tape strip, it's necessary to first attach it to a piece of cardstock.  The roll is approximately 3 1/4" wide, so I cut strips of Basic White cardstock about 3 1/2" wide to attach the Washi Tape on.  I cut two sections of the Washi Tape to have both of the different flower colors available to use.   Just to satisfy my curiosity, I also cut some pieces of vellum and attached each colored section of flowers to this.

There is one large die in the Extraordinary Flora set that cuts them all at once.   I found this to be a very quick and efficient thing to do to get that beautiful bouquet of flowers ready to use.   All of the pieces were die-cut quickly and then the creating began.

For this card, I stuck with the batch of flowers that were attached to the Basic White cardstock and also were the pink and purple flower mix.  The rest are all saved for future reference.

Using a quarter sheet of Basic White cardstock, I embossed it with the floral design in the Glass & Gardens Embossing Folder Duo.  These embossing folders are part of the Celebratory Sips Suite.  As you can see, this is a thinner embossing folder that only embosses a panel and not the whole piece.  This one has a delicate floral design that would make a nice backdrop for the small flowers.

I thought I'd like to back it with Fresh Freesia layer for a small touch of color.  I cut the Fresh Freesia to 5 1/4" x 3 7/8".  Then trimmed the embossed piece to measure 5 1/8" x 3 3/4".  They are attached together with "green glue".  There is a card base made from Basic White that measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  This is scored in half.  Then the layers are attached to the card base with "green glue" also.

The sentiment is from the Textured Notes set.  It's a small and delicate font that I thought fit with the card nicely.  Two of the labels were made because I wasn't sure what color ink I'd like on the sentiment.  Both Berry Burst and Fresh Freesia were tried out.  Berry Burst turned out to be the nicer looking color for the sentiment on this card.

The sentiment is attached to the card front close to the middle.  Two Dimensionals were used for this.  Then several of the flowers and leaves were attached to the card front.  Two of the pieces were attached with Dimensionals, but the rest were tucked in around the main pieces and attached with adhesive.

You can't tell, but the two bluish leaf clusters were actually one die-cut that I cut in half and used the different sections.  The piece seemed too long to fit the design properly.  So why not?  Trim leaves when necessary to fit your design.

Three of the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems in the lightest color were used as accents.  Even though there really wasn't much purple on the design, I think they worked out quite well.

That's it for my first foray into playing with the new Extraordinary Flora Bundle.  The Washi Tape is really gorgeous in my opinion.  The colors are so fresh and sweet.  They will brighten up any message you might want to send.  This style of card is very versatile and quick to make too.  Hopefully the second card using the Washi Tape that I'm working on will come together quickly too and I can get it posted soon.

Thanks for stopping by today for the latest bout of creativity.  Hope you'll give this awesome Washi Tape a try.  You'll find it and the rest of the Extraordinary Flora Bundle in the Annual Catalog and in the SU! store.  Happy shopping! That reminds me, if you're still contemplating some items in the BOGO 50% off Suite Sale, you're running out of time.  June 30th is the last day of the sale, so don't procrastinate any longer!  And any order over $20 starts earning you 10% Rewards for yourself!!  If you don't have a demonstrator yet, I'd be happy to help you.  Thanks again!

Happy stamping and creating,
